I was told that Guiding is fun, well it certainly seems to be so far. I have reached the half way stage of the season and have done some great tours and have enjoyed learning more and more about the islands that we live on.

It struck me that every tour I do is totally different. It is interesting to see those that live in Cities and Towns be amazed by things we may slightly take for granted like Lambs and Sheep and Rabbits. I have taken three tours to cliffs at Hermaness and each one has been amazed by the sheep on the cliffs and all have taken photos of them whereas I would walk right by.

Neither will I forget the man that asked me to confirm that the photo he took was indeed of sheep poo as this is what his hobby is!! The man that asked me what a Bruce was - thanks for that, it helped me learn.

I have loved the chance to be able to be individual from all the other guides, we each have our own special contribution, I enjoy the chance to let my personality lead me. The drivers and pier side staff are brilliant and I am amazed by the organisation that goes into each and every ship arriving at the pier.

Looking forward to my second half of the season.
